2016: CLC Year in Review

The Center for Leadership and Character is excited to kick off 2017 with a review of our highlights from 2016 including some exciting events, products, and initiatives that made the year outstanding.

In 2016, the Center expanded the 360 assessment system utilizing its proprietary LCA and TMA assessments, action planning resources, and team coaching sessions. As well, the Center piloted the Community Business Leader Performance Coaching program to support team-level coaching for the TMA assessment as part of a phenomenal professional development opportunity. In 2017, the Center continued sponsorship of the Wake Forest Ethics and Leadership Debate Team whose performance at regional competitions secured them a spot in the national competition in February and the Service Academies Leadership Conference Program with six students slated to represent Wake Forest at the United States (U.S.) Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, the Citadel, and the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. Pro-humanitate remains a consistent focus with the Center including leading a team of faculty, staff and students to provide home repairs for a local veteran in partnership with Habitat for Humanity, and co-sponsoring, alongside the Graduate Student Government Association, a packing day for Forsyth Backpack Program resulting in 782 bags providing 3,128 meals for school children. Powerful reflection sessions on servant leadership from William Hawks and Cameron Kent placed service in context and reinforced the servant leadership ethos. Learn more

Staying connected to business, the Center sponsored 5 speaker visits including welcoming Dr. Bill Powers, chair of Enron Special Investigation Committee and former president of the University of Texas. The Center also offered consulting services for senior executives at Bank of America and new analysts at Wells Fargo on topics of ethical leadership, ethical decision making and strategic thinking, demonstrating the impact of quality, research-based products and services for enhanced business results. Keeping the Center’s thought leadership at the forefront, Center researchers published 6 articles on leadership and organizational development topics in leading academic journals with 4 articles appearing in Financial Times Top 45 journal lists. Learn more
