In the spirit of competition and passion for ethical debate, the WFU Ethics and Leadership Debate Team participated in the Southeast Regional Ethics Bowl at the University of Central Florida on November 4, 2017 where the team finished right in the middle with two wins and two losses. The team performed well with great first run competitions for two of the team freshmen, Zach Gould and Indea Cousin.
The Mid-Atlantic Regional Ethics Bowl at Clemson University, held November 18, 2017 resulted in the team taking second place with five wins and one loss. Stephen Oldham, team coach, asserted, “The team was flawless throughout and they learned, as well as overcame, their shortcomings from the Southeast Regional Ethics Bowl.”
The next engagement will be the North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities Ethics Bowl in Raleigh, NC, February 16-17, 2018. The season will wrap up with Nationals on March 3-4, 2018 in Chicago, IL.
