Reflections from Air Force Academy National Character and Leadership Symposium Attendee Grace Colan

On February 22-23, 2018, Grace Colan, BEM ’19 attended the Air Force Academy National Character and Leadership Symposium in Denver, Colorado. This year’s main topic was “Ethics and Respect for Human Dignity” and speakers included the CEO of Boeing, a man who climbed Everest to the summit, a Holocost survivor who was nine years old during the experience, and a man who had fought in Benghazi.

Reinforcing the theme, Colan stated that the conference speakers explored the idea that way you treat others, and treat others with respect is important and can have a significant effect in the long run. Being respectful and diplomatic can be powerful in so many situations. Colan found clear connections to how she will apply these principles in future leadership roles especially with others who emerge from different background experiences or who have different views.
