34 Beds Built as Allegacy Center for Leadership and Character Upholds Prohumanitate

The Allegacy Center for Leadership and Character (ACLC) in conjunction with A Bed and A Book hosted students, faculty and staff on the terrace Wednesday for the annual bed build. The ACLC was thrilled to have Winston-Salem Mayor Allen Joines on hand to take part in the event. With the spirit of Prohumanitate in mind, 34 bed kits were successfully constructed and will soon be delivered along with sheets and a book to community members in need.

According to Founder and Executive Director of A Bed and a Book, Anneliese Wall, 2-3% of our population experience “bedlessness.” Providing a soft and safe place for children to dream, supports the ability to learn and thrive at school while boosting self confidence and pride.

Since its inception just under five years ago, A Bed and A Book has been responsible for overseeing the assembly and delivery of more than 900 beds. The Winston-Salem based organization is spreading across the state with chapters now reaching Greensboro, High Point and Watauga County.

The ACLC will continue to work with Wall as she works to clear the waiting list by delivering all beds that have been assembled.
