Students, faculty, and staff of the School of Business recently found an opportunity to live the Wake Forest University motto of Pro Humanitate (“for humanity”).
In September, the Allegacy Center for Leadership & Character organized two School of Business teams to assist in building local Habitat homes sponsored by Wake Forest University and Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
Habitat building has long been a favorite project at Wake Forest, but this year, students, faculty and staff of the School of Business combined to form joint teams. The teams worked over two days to support the great mission of Habitat for Humanity. In all, 33 members of the School of Business family supported this two-day build at two home locations in the Kimberly Park neighborhood of Winston Salem. Our teams worked on roofing, interior caulking and foam insulation.
In an academic environment, service should be more than an afternoon in the sun. To culminate the Habitat effort, the Center sponsored a lunch-time discussion following the work days to discuss the value and merits of servant leadership and how community stewardship impacts the University’s motto and School’s mission.
