Matthew Phillips, professor of practice and fellow of the Allegacy Center for Leadership and Character, presented a program on ethics for executive leaders of nonprofit organizations from throughout the Piedmont Triad on Thursday, January 16, 2014. The session was part of the Nonprofit Business Essentials program presented by HandsOn of Northwest North Carolina and Wake Forest University’s Institute for Public Engagement; it took place at the Northwest Area Health Education Center in Wake Forest’s Deacon Tower.

Phillips led the group in considering the context for studying ethics in organizations, and offered an introduction to philosophical ethics. The group also explored the Center’s draft Ethical Decision-Action Model and discussed live cases from participants’ organizations to develop practical approaches to dealing with future ethical dilemmas.
