The Allegacy Center for Leadership and Character in the School of Business is pleased to welcome Dr. Peter Rea to campus March 5-6. Dr. Rea, the Vice President of Integrity and Ethics Enterprise Wide at Parker Hannifin, is responsible for integration of ethics and ethics initiatives across his organization’s 60,000 employees.
Among other scheduled opportunities with students, faculty, and staff, Dr. Rea will be sharing thoughts regarding the development of an ethical culture in a global company for the benefit of our students, faculty and staff at 2pm, March 5th, in Farrell Hall classroom A48.
About Dr. Peter Rea:
In 2012, Peter Rea was appointed Vice President of Integrity and Ethics Enterprise Wide at Parker Hannifin, the world’s number one motion and control company earning over $13 billion in revenue. The purpose of the position is to preserve Parker’s reputation and to protect its financial strength. The vision is to teach virtue in a way that adds value to 60,000 people in 48 countries. The strategy is integrate ethical action into existing programs and business goals delivered through seminars, consulting, coaching and web based instruction.
Peter was the founding Burton D. Morgan Chair for Entrepreneurial Studies and Director of Baldwin-Wallace’s Center for Innovation and Growth. The Center provides a practical forum for students, business leaders and business owners to create economic and social value through innovation guided by integrity. A new building houses programs that support its mission to “infuse entrepreneurship campus wide while contributing to regional development.”
Peter created partnerships between Baldwin-Wallace and profit and nonprofit organizations such as Parker, PNC, Cliffs Natural Resources, E&Y, GOJOs, RPM, and Cleveland Indians. He also provided leadership to establish partnerships with corporations and universities in countries such as Brazil, England, Germany, India, Japan and China. These partnerships include educational exchanges and Baldwin-Wallace offerings its MBA program in Brazil.
From 1994 until 2006, he was chairman of the Business Administration Division at Baldwin-Wallace. He was responsible for providing leadership for undergraduate programs that served 1300 students, seven MBA programs that served over 400 students and executive education that served 1600 leaders annually. From 1989 to 1994, he was Associate Academic Dean at Baldwin-Wallace College. He assisted with college-wide strategy and policy for 27 academic and ten administrative departments.
His primary teaching areas include entrepreneurship, business ethics and marketing strategy. He has consulted in the areas of innovation, ethics and strategy for companies such as ABB, Cleveland Clinic, Westfield Group, Westinghouse and numerous nonprofits, mid-sized and family owned businesses.
He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Akron, a M.A. from Bowling Green State University and a B.S. from Ohio University. He has completed postdoctoral studies in international marketing and business, and marketing strategy at the University of South Carolina, Memphis University, Carnegie Mellon University and Duke University.
He co-authored Integrity is a Growth Market and Leading with Integrity with Alan Kolp. He co-authored Strategic Planning: A Practical Guide with Dr. Harold Kerzner. Since 2005, Peter collaborated with Alan Kolp, former Dean at Earlham and currently a Humanities professor at B-W and Pierre Everaert, former Chairman of InBev and CEO of five multinationals including Phillips. They co-authored Igniting Innovation with Integrity: Follow the BRIC Road. Their leadership model applies the art (mindset) and science (skill set) of innovation founded on an ancient tradition of the seven classical virtues.
