Stephen Smulowitz, ACLC Research Associate, was recently quoted in a Bloomberg article on how the elimination of quarterly earnings reports would change how CEOs lead their teams.
Smulowitz explained that shifting away from quarterly reporting could alter managerial behavior in meaningful ways.
“If we are moving from quarterly to biannual reporting, which would make it so CEOs have more of an opportunity to actually do things and make changes, that could be a good thing,” Smulowitz said.
In his role as an Assistant Professor of Strategic Management, Smulowitz focuses on ethical decision making and character development and his research centers on strategic management, corporate governance, business ethics, and sustainability. His work has been published in leading journals such as the Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Management, and Research Policy, with nine articles appearing in FT50 journals since 2019. Beyond the classroom, Steve is committed to character-based leadership through extensive service, including pro bono legal work for underserved communities, training women for corporate board positions, and serving on university committees.
