Cameron Kane Represents School at Leadership Conference

Junior Cameron Kane has just returned from the 2016 Naval Academy Leadership Conference (NALC) at the US Naval Academy, Annapolis, Maryland.  The annual conference, in its 32nd year,  had representation of more than 200 participants from over 45 colleges.  Cameron,  a finance major with a minor in physics, was recommended by faculty, and selected to attend based on application submission in November.

This year’s conference theme, Referent Leadership:  Cultivating Relationships, sought to explore the challenge of building and sustaining relationships across different borders, cultures, and generations in a way that connects personally.  When asked about the impact of the conference, Cameron said, ” I thoroughly enjoyed attending the Naval Academy Leadership Conference as I was able to meet new people while simultaneously learn from some of the most respected peers in our country.”

Several sessions made up the conference 2-day schedule which provided Cameron and participants learning and engagement opportunities with senior leaders from multiple industries and included leadership topics relevant to government, business, and academia, as well as the military.  “Through the panel discussions and guest speakers, I was able to listen to their opinions on leadership through their own past and present actions.  Not only will I personally build from the experience, but I believe it was one of the most intriguing events I have been to.”

The Allegacy Center for Leadership and Character sponsors and supports Cameron’s representation to the NALC through its Service Academies Leadership Conference Program, which is in its third year.

Cameron intends to share his experience within the classroom in the coming weeks.  Additionally, look for an insights video interview of Cameron to be posted here on the CLC website soon.
