Sean Hannah Receives Cowan Faculty Research Award

Congratulations to our very own Sean Hannah on receiving the Cowan Faculty Research Award!

“I am honored to once again receive the School of Business’ annual Cowan Faculty Research Award”.  My research has sought to advance knowledge in leader development, exemplary leadership, character development and behavioral ethics, strategic thinking, building adaptable high-performing teams, and crisis leadership/leadership in extreme contexts.”

Dr. Hannah has published 72 papers on leadership, teams, applied psychology, and business ethics. Evidencing the impact of his work on the field of management, his work has been cited over 7750 times by other researchers. Three of his articles have been cited over 500 times, five articles over 300 times, four articles over 200 times, and another sixteen over 100 times. Less than 1% of scholarly articles are cited over 100 times, and thus with 28 articles in that category, Sean’s research is internationally renowned. Over just the last five year period Sean published a remarkable 17 peer-reviewed articles, with 10 of those in journals listed on the prestigious Financial Times list.

He was recently recognized by the Academy of Management (AOM), the international professional body for management scholars, amongst its 19,000-plus members to receive the 2017 Practice Impact Award, which as described by AOM “is a prestigious and highly valued award that seeks to recognize and celebrate an outstanding scholar for her or his contribution to managerial and organizational practices.” Further, based on the impact of his research, in 2018 Sean was inducted as a Fellow in the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology as well as a Fellow in the Association for Psychological Science.
