Camille Dutto, a Business and Enterprise Management major at Wake Forest, attended the 2023 Naval Academy Leadership Conference Returning With Honor: Trials to Triumph.
Camille was moved by the message of how the importance of resilience and grit, coupled with having a solid support system, can impact one’s leadership journey. Among her fondest memories were the keynote speakers and their accomplishments on the battlefield and beyond. She recalls LT Brad Snyder, USN, Ret., sharing his story of sustaining complete vision loss due to an IED (improvised explosive device) while in Afghanistan. Brad’s resilience and grit gained him a place on the US Paralympic National Team for swimming, where he found success and earned Gold and Silver medals. “Reframing Failure”, the focus of one session, provided a key takeaway for Camille: “That is what we learn at Wake Forest University School of Business. We view setbacks as opportunities to learn. I feel very fortunate to have been able to attend this conference.”
