Wake Forest Ethics and Leadership Debate Team at Nationals 2018

The Wake Forest Ethics and Leadership Debate Team competed at the national level in the Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl in Chicago, March 3rd and 4th, 2018. The event was sponsored by the Association for Practical and Professional Ethics and included 35 other teams chosen through regional ethics bowl competitions.

Through the two day competition, the Wake Forest team gained one victory, a tie with the formidable U.S. Naval Academy, and two narrow losses.

Debate topics ranged from the moral responsibilities of pharmaceutical companies to the appropriate policy response to artificial intelligence and automation.

Team members include (from left to right in the photo) Thomas Poston, co-captain, Katrina Barth, co-captain (both seniors) and Indea Cousins and Zachary Taylor (both freshmen). Team coach, Stephen Oldham praised the team and especially the freshmen for a solid performance.

The team is sponsored at Wake Forest by the Allegacy Center for leadership and Character in the Wake Forest School of Business.
