On Thursday, April 16, the CLC sponsored Jack Krol, retired chairman and CEO of DuPont, to share insights and perspectives regarding ethical leadership with a group of students across multiple programs and majors, as well as within the classroom of a Dynamics in Organizations class.
Carlos Brito, Chief Executive Officer of AB InBev (Anheuser-Busch InBev), visited the School of Business March 23 to share his perspectives on global leadership. Carlos leads an organization of approximately 155,000 employees based in 25 countries and realized revenue of $47.1 billion in 2014.
“Leadership is an art.” That’s what junior Wake Forest student Addison McLamb says after returning from the 8th Annual Principled Leadership Symposium last week. McLamb spent part of his spring break representing Wake Forest at this student conference, held at the Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina. This year’s symposium theme was “Principled Leadership as Honor: The Code, The Medal, The Ethos.”
On Wednesday, March 4, the Center for Leadership and Character welcomed Dr. Gary Chapman to the School of Business for a discussion with students, faculty and staff on servant leadership and Why Service Matters.
In January and February, four Wake Forest students represented their school at student leadership conferences at the United States Naval Academy and United States Air Force Academy. The Center for Leadership and Character sponsors the Student Academies Leadership Conference Program, for which any undergraduate student at the University is welcome to apply.
The Wake Forest Ethics and Leadership Debate Team took home top honors in the North Carolina Ethics Bowl held February 7-8 at Campbell University School of Law in Raleigh. This win marks the third time that Wake Forest has won this Ethics Bowl – having earned top honors in 2012, 2014, and 2015.
Five Wake Forest undergraduate students were recently selected to attend upcoming leadership conferences sponsored by three military service academies. These conferences will be held at the US Naval Academy, US Air Force Academy and the US Military Academy at West Point over the next several months.
In this “Last Lecture Series: an Evening with Steve Reinemund,” Steve Reinemund, the Executive in Residence, former dean of the School of Business, and retired PepsiCo CEO, reflected on the characteristics that make great leaders including character, competence, commitment, and compassion. Reinemund shared his insights gained through observation during his career in the military, business and higher education.
On Wednesday, December 10, the Wake Forest University Charlotte Center and The Charlotte Observer invited guests to hear from several distinguished women business leaders. This event included a panel discussion entitled “Myths About Female Leadership: It’s Not About Fitting In, It’s About A New Path” and included wisdom and practical leadership ideas.
